The Mini MP3 and WAV File Player – DFPlayer (UART) is a versatile and cost-effective audio playback module designed to add high-quality sound capabilities to embedded systems and DIY electronics projects. Based on the popular MP3-TF-16P / FN-M16P platform, the module supports MP3 and WAV audio formats stored on a microSD card up to 32GB using FAT16 or FAT32 file systems.
Equipped with a 24-bit DAC, the DFPlayer delivers clear audio with a 90dB dynamic range and 85dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Its integrated 3W audio amplifier allows direct connection to a small speaker, while stereo DAC outputs can be used with external amplifiers for enhanced audio quality.
The module can be easily controlled using UART serial commands from popular development boards such as Arduino, ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi Pico, and Teensy. It also supports standalone operation using pushbuttons, eliminating the need for a microcontroller in simple applications.
Additional features such as 30 volume levels, 6 equalizer presets, random playback, and a BUSY status output pin make it suitable for interactive audio projects, voice announcements, sound effects, alarms, robotics, and IoT applications.
